Emma Wood, Project Coordinator, Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District (she/her)
Emma Wood has been immersed in organic farming for over a decade and has recently transitioned to working in conservation. Her journey into agriculture began during her travels in South America, where she gained hands-on experience working on an organic dairy. Upon returning to the United States, she joined a worker-run farming operation in southern Pennsylvania, ultimately making her way back to California to pursue her passion for sustainable agriculture. In 2016, Emma completed the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems program at UC Santa Cruz, further solidifying her expertise in sustainable farming practices. She spent six years cultivating cut flowers in Sonoma County, where she deepened her commitment to soil health and the potential of carbon farming practices to combat climate change. Currently, Emma is pursuing an MBA in Sustainable Solutions at Presidio Graduate School while collaborating with School Garden Network and the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District. Her work is driven by a vision to create equitable wages and sustainable livelihoods for farmers and farm workers by bridging the gap between agriculture, business, and entrepreneurship.
