Workshop Survey

This is a great workshop for garden educators and classroom teachers to come as a team as it provides useful information on bridging garden programs with classroom science activities.
You know your school garden is a living labratory, but how can you use Next Generation Science and Engineering Standards to prepare your students in a meaningful and lasting way?  Anna Babarinde, the Science curriculum specialist from SCOE, will show you how to lead a three dimensional lesson with a garden-based challenge that helps students make observations, develop models, analyze and interpret data, and construct an argument. Everyone will practice identifying local, relevant phenomena that students can study in your outdoor classroom/garden.
Outdoor learning environments make it easy to meet the Science and Engineering Practices for K- 8.

Laurel Anderson will share how you can incorporate habitat design features such as pollinator patches, Monarch ways stations, insect hotels, songbird nesting boxes, rain gardens at your school campus.

Learn about exciting Citizen Science programs that  engage student learning using Science and Engineering practices

Open your eyes to a whole realm of pollinators in the garden- the many fascinating species of  California native bees with entymologist Janet Calhoun!

This workshop is a pre-requisite for SGN’s Schoolyard Habitat grant.  Learn more about our program HERE.

Many thanks to US Fish & Wildlife Service for their generous support of this program.
