More Free Plants & Seeds
In addition to our seasonal Grow Kits, SGN Partner Schools also have access to our Free Seed Library in Santa Rosa, as well as free plants and seeds from local businesses.

Free Plant Starts from Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery
Harmony Farm Supply donates two free flats of their organic vegetable starts to Sonoma County school garden programs annually. Each school is eligible to pick up free veggie starts one time during the calendar year in either the Spring or Fall.

Spring Dates: March 15th - July 15th

Fall Dates: September 1st - October 31st
Steps to get free plant starts:
1. Register as a SGN Partner School
2. Set up a school garden account at Harmony Farm Supply & Nursery. Please print out this Application Form, fill it out, and bring it to your local Harmony store. The person who picks up the plants must be the person who set up the account.
3. Pick up your free plants!
Guidelines:

Pick up is available Monday through Friday only (not on weekends)

Schools can pick up from the Sebastopol or Petaluma store locations

Participants pick out the plants themselves. Plants must be Harmony-grown vegetables, herbs, and flowers, preferably not just one single variety

One donation per calendar year (either Spring or Fall)

Free Milkweed from Monarch Watch
Schools who demonstrate the following will be given priority for free milkweeds from Monarch Watch:

Educational goals of garden clearly described

A clear, long-term maintenance plan for the garden space

Adequate space (at least 100 sq ft) and sunlight (at least 6 hours per day) for growing milkweed

Spring/Summer/Fall nectar sources existing or to be added in addition to milkweed

Provide a letter of support from your school that landscape crews will not pull the plants or re-purpose the space in the foreseeable future

Commit to a follow-up survey for photo submissions and garden evaluations
SGN Seed Library in Santa Rosa

SGN has a free seed library available to our partner schools at the Sonoma County Central Library in Santa Rosa.
Steps to get free seeds:
1. Register as a SGN Partner School
2. Go to Santa Rosa's Central Library and pick out your seeds (please take only what you will use)
