School Garden Network & Harmony Farm Supply are dedicated to supporting water conservation in school gardens!
The Water-Wise Mini Grant Program is a collaboration between SGN and Harmony Farm Supply. Eligible SGN affiliate schools will receive a free irrigation design, installation support and up to $400 in funding for a drip irrigation system. Irrigation systems will include battery operated timers, electric anti-siphon valves and a shut off valve to isolate the system.

Who will be in charge of installation and maintenance of irrigation systems?
Please provide a detailed map of your school garden. Include overall square footage. This map does not need to be to scale but it does need enough detail to design an adequate system. This map will be used for design purposes so please be as accurate as possible.

Please note if native plants or drought tolerant plantings are in perennial beds.
Please note that garden must have a pressured water line with a shut off valve and a 1-inch stub up in the garden to qualify for funding.
Drip system will be designed by irrigation specialists at Harmony Farm Supply (HFS). HFS & SGN will supply irrigation parts not to exceed $400. With the huge discounts HFS offers to schools, most projects are completely covered by this mini grant.
Systems most often are designed to include valves and battery-operated timer installed in ground. SGN will work with school personnel and teen participating in our School Garden Apprenticeship program to install the irrigation system.
SCHOOL GARDEN NETWORK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS OR MAINTENANCE TO THE SYSTEM ONCE INSTALLATION IS COMPLETE.
Please include signature or attached letter that school maintenance is aware of the plan to tap into the main garden water line to install a drip irrigation system.

Schools will be notified if selected to participate in this program. SGN Project Coordinator will make arrangements to visit the school to review design. SGN Project Coordinator will assist in the installation of the irrigation system.
