Here are some of the many ways to join the school gardening movement in Sonoma County.
SGN Listserve: Would you like to be updated and informed about what's happening in the school garden community? Join our yahoo group schoolgardennetwork!
This is SGN's community bulletin board, where information is exchanged about resources, workshops, grants, and what's happening in and beyond the county. Have questions? Ask other school gardeners.
OAEC Teacher Training: In Sonoma County we are fortunate to have one of the top school garden teacher training programs in the country. One-week residential trainings are held by the Occidental Arts & Ecology Center two to three times during the summer. For more information, go to OAEC Courses.
Volunteer at a school near you: School gardens are often run by volunteer teachers and parents. If a school near you already has a garden, it may need more helping hands. Ask at the school office, since all volunteers need to be checked out for the children's safety. You may also contact SGN to be placed on our volunteer list.
Join a School Garden Network committee: Most of SGN's work is accomplished by committees that focus on one aspect of what SGN does. We can always use help! Consider joining one of the following committees to pursue your interests, use your skills and grow more school gardens.
